The McGill Board of Governors is pleased to announce that McGill veteran and current member-at-large Stuart (Kip) Cobbett has been appointed to the new position of Vice-Chair, Board of Governors.
For many years, Kip Cobbett has made significant contributions to the university including: active member of the McGill Alumni Association, serving as its president in 2002-03; Chair of the Advisory Board of the McGill News (1992-95); Chair of the Board of Visitors, Faculty of Arts (1994-96); member, Audit Committee of the Board of Governors, and lecturer in the Faculty of Law (1976-85).
With his recent three-year term appointment, Cobbett’s latest responsibilities will include bringing additional leadership and stewardship to the Board in support of the Chair, Robert Rabinovitch. The new Vice-Chair has hit the ground running as ahe’s already assumed the duties of the Chair in his current absence. Cobbett’s term ends Dec. 31, 2010. Managing partner (Montreal) and chief operating officer of the Canadian law firm Stikeman Elliott LLP, Mr. Cobbett is a two-time McGill graduate (BA1969, BCL 1972) and has a long-standing relationship with the university.
