You have until Dec. 20 to help recognize a deserving member of McGill's administrative and support staff in acknowledgement of their exceptional contributions to the university.
Nominating someone for the 2006-2007 Principal's Awards for Administrative and Support Staff is fast and easy. Complete details are available at www.mcgill.ca/vpadmin/awards or by email. Five winners, one in each of the M, C, T, L, and Trades and Services staff categories, will receive a $5,000 award.
Almost all buildings are closed during the holidays and others have reduced operating hours. If applicable, ensure you have the proper silent hour access for the building you intend to work or study in. Please consult www.mcgill.ca/security/services/access/lenel/contact/ for your area access manager.
Do not lend your McGill ID card with access rights to anyone. It is both a contravention of university policy and a serious security breach. Nor should you allow anyone to "piggy back" on your access into a building.
Remind your contacts that you will be away; Security Services cannot provide access for deliveries. If you are an emergency contact for a building or a laboratory and will be away for an extended period of time, arrange for an alternate person to replace you. Update your contact list and advise Security Services and the building director.
Consult the holiday newsletter published by Facilities Management. It provides a complete list of services available and special safety and security issues related to the holiday season.
Also, consult the "bulletins" section at www.mcgill.ca/security/bulletins for the latest on matters of concern in our community. Report anyone or anything suspicious. The 398-3000 phone line is answered 24/7.
