Sweet 16: New McGill CRCs announced

McGill University researchers just got a boost in the arm—to the tune of $13.4 million. As was announced on May 23, by Dr. Colin Carrie, Secretary to the Honourable Maxime Bernier, Minister of Industry and minister responsible for the Canada Research Chairs Program, 16 of our researchers are among the 98 newly appointed CRCs. The group is comprised of six Tier-1 and ten Tier-2 Chairs. In addition to the CRC funding, the Canada Foundation for Innovation is investing approximately $2.5 million to fund research infrastructure essential to the work done by 15 of those Chairs. Here is a list of the new CRCs.

Bruno Giros — Tier 1. Canada Research Chair in the Neurobiology of Mental Illness

Pascal Hubert — Tier 2. Canada Research Chair in Advanced Composite Materials

Elizabeth A. V. Jones — Tier 2. Canada Research Chair in Embryonic Biomechanics

Pavlos Kollias — Tier 2. Canada Research Chair in Radar Applications in Weather and Climate Research

Stéphane A. Laporte — Tier 2. Renewal. Canada Research Chair in Molecular Endocrinology
