Jonas finalist for NSERC Herzberg Medal

John Jonas, professor emeritus in the Department of Mining, Metal and Materials Engineering, was named one of three finalists for the Gerhard Herzberg Canada Gold Medal as announced by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC).

Jonas is a world leader in the high temperature deformation of metals whose research brings together studies of fundamental aspects of metal physics as well as issues of practical interest to steel manufacturers.

Considered Canada's most prestigious science award, the NSERC Herzberg Medal comes with an increase of $1 million in funding over five years.
