Clive Chang, who studies both commerce and music at McGill, will be honoured at the 2007 spring convocation with the Quebec Lieutenant Governor's Community Volunteer Award for Students. While simultaneously pursuing a general commerce degree in the Desautels Faculty of Management and an honours composition degree in piano at the Schulich School of Music, Chang has found time to serve the university community as musical director of the McGill Savoy Society and as acting director of McGill's Soulstice A Cappella singing group. A tradition that dates back more than a century, the Lieutenant Governor's Awards recognize the social commitment of outstanding graduates from Quebec secondary and post-secondary educational institutions.
Everyone involved in McGill's 2006 Centraide Campaign deserves a rousing round of applause. Not only did the university's 2006 campaign raise a McGill-record $303,364, but it was nominated for one of the charitable organization's Solidaires awards as well. At Centraide's annual campaign awards ceremony, April 26, McGill was saluted as one of only four finalists for a Solidaires in the Leadership Giving category, which honours outstanding generosity as measured in donations of $1,000 or more, which accounted for $144,000 of McGill's contribution.
