Principal Heather Munroe-Blum announced the appointment of Professor Anthony C. Masi to the new position of Deputy Provost and Chief Information Officer, replacing the position of Vice-Principal (Information Systems and Technology) he held previously.
This new position combines the responsibility for information systems and technology with the coordination of university planning and analysis. In his new position, Masi will report to the principal on matters relating to analysis, information and information systems and technology, and to the Provost on all planning and related academic matters.
As well, Masi will continue to provide support to the Vice-Principal (Administration and Finance).
In making this announcement, Principal Munroe-Blum stated: "I am confident that this change will be of strong benefit to McGill, and that Dr. Masi will fulfill the responsibilities with distinction." The Principal indicated that this reorganization of functions at the level of vice-principal did not involve additional changes of personnel at this time.
This reorganization reflects the increasing integration of the university's planning at the institutional level in support of academic priorities. The change is effective immediately.
Masi brings to this new position his knowledge and breadth of academic and administrative experience at McGill, as well as his background in research methods and statistics, demography and the application of computer technology in social science research.
