Kudos

The Canadian Engineering Memorial Foundation has tapped Cynthia Ené as a recipient for a 2005 Engineering Scholarship Award. The $5,000 awards are given out annually to women undergraduate students across Canada. Ené spent 11 years of her childhood in Nigeria, and witnessed widespread poverty and deprivation. She is also an inspiration to others, as a career leader to first-year students and as a member of the McGill Chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers.

Engineering Professor Suzelle Barrington was this year's recipient of the Canadian Council for Professional Engineers' Award for Support of Women in Engineering. Barrington, who works in the Department of Agriculture and Biosystems Engineering, was singled out by the council for her history of breaking gender barriers, and for her success as a role model to both male and female engineering students.
