Message from Principal Heather Munroe-Blum on Administrative Developments in the Office of the Principal

I am pleased to announce a number of administrative developments in my office, which I hope will enhance the University's capacity to respond effectively to McGill's many and complex institutional needs and opportunities.

Three new positions have been created:

Chief of Staff and Director of Federal Government Relations, responsible for promoting and facilitating McGill's relations with the federal government and international levels of government, as well as managing the administrative support function in the Office of the Principal. Ms. Ginette Lamontagne continues as Executive Director, Governmental and Institutional Affairs, reporting to the Principal and Vice-Chancellor.

Director of University Events, responsible for the organization and execution of University-wide special events involving the Principal, in close cooperation with the offices of the Vice-Principals, the Deans, and Development and Alumni Relations.

Special Advisor -- Policy and Communications, whose responsibilities include the coordination of strategic and operational planning, analysis of institutional issues and liaison with the University's senior administrative team, as well as special assignments.

I am happy to say that Ms. Ann Dadson has joined us as Special Advisor -- Policy and Communications, effective January 13. Ann comes to McGill from The CRB Foundation of The Andrea and Charles Bronfman Philanthropies, where she was Senior Vice-President, Administration. In this position, she worked closely with the McGill Institute for the Study of Canada as the Bronfman family's liaison. Prior to joining the Foundation, Ms. Dadson worked for the Government of Canada in a variety of senior management positions.

The other two positions will be filled shortly.

I would also like to announce the appointment of Ms. Sherry Romanado as Executive Assistant to the Principal's office, effective January 6. In this position, Ms. Romanado is responsible for scheduling, as well as administrative support and finance functions within the Office of the Principal. Many in the University community will be familiar with Ms. Romanado from her previous position as Agenda and Events Coordinator for the former Principal. Her prior experience includes working for the Senior Vice-President and Principal Tax Counsel at Canadian National Railway.

Please join me in welcoming Ann and Sherry to our group.

Finally, Line Thibault, General Counsel and Director Legal Services, will report directly to the Principal and Vice-Chancellor. As part of this change, I am also pleased to announce that Vilma Campbell will be taking up her position in Legal Services.

Thank you for your support as I begin my mandate, and please accept my best wishes for the New Year.

Yours truly,
Heather Munroe-Blum
