Letter

To the editor:

The excellent article "The greening of McGill" by Sylvain-Jacques Desjardins inspired me to write this. I am very proud that my alma mater is paying so much attention to the vital issue of the environment. In the Laurentian community we have been trying with limited success to protect our region. In 1986 we passed a petition to honour Pierre Trudeau with the Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Peace Park, and some years later we had a petition that had one of the highest percentage sign rates in Canadian history -- to make Sainte-Adèle a model city for the environment and that it be a pilot project for all other Canadian cities.

We are now trying to get the United Nations to declare the Laurentians a protected environmental area.

This letter is to ask for any and all help in that endeavour.

Most respectfully and appreciated,

David Sommer Rovins
