Redpath Library entrance under repair

During renovations of the ground level floor of the Redpath Library Building, McGill Facilities Development discovered a seriously deteriorated floor slab and beam underlying in the entry vestibule to the library from the pedestian terrace. The concrete structure had been weakened by salt and corrosion.

While there is no danger of collapse, remedial emergency structural repairs are being made to both the floor slab and the beam. Work will occur during the week from 6:00 p.m. in the evening to 10:00 a.m. in the morning, and on Saturdays as required.

As a result, the main entrance to the Redpath Library Building will be closed for a period of three weeks from Sept. 12 through Oct. 3. The outside pedestrian terrace will remain open. Pedestrian access to the Humanities and Social Sciences Library spaces in the Redpath Library will occur via the McClennan Library main entrance.

The food service operation, the Tim Horton's, on the floor below, will remain operational.  Access will be via the McLennan Library Building Entrance and not the Redpath Library Entrance.
