McGill Matters

Dos and Don'ts during a fire alarm

Our McGill buildings are equipped with fire alarm systems. If you hear the fire alarm:

DO evacuate the building immediately via the nearest exit, in a calm and orderly manner.

DON'T use the elevators.

DO follow the instructions of the evacuation team by moving towards the gathering point outside, away from the building.

DON'T assume it is a false alarm and stay in the building.

Fall 2007 safety training

As the new academic year begins, remember all laboratory personnel, including undergraduate, graduate and post-doctoral students must have received all required health and safety training. Environmental Health and Safety has prepared a comprehensive Fall 2007 Safety Training Schedule, including sessions at both campuses. Register today: www.mcgill.ca/ehs/training. Questions? ehs@mcgill.ca or 514-398-4563.

Online course evaluations

Teaching and Learning Services (TLS) announces that students now have access to course evaluation results for 2006-07 courses via Minerva, in time to use the information for course selections for 2007-08. The course evaluation system is now entirely online. One purpose of course evaluations at McGill is to give students a voice regarding the quality of their learning experiences, as well as to assist with future course selections. Student feedback also helps professors reflect on their teaching and improve future course offerings. Students are encouraged to complete course evaluations for each course every term.
