Dr. William Feindel was inducted into the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame. The professor emeritus joins fellow McGill-based Hall of Fame luminaries such as Drs. Maude Abbott, William Osler, Wilder Penfield and other notables like Roberta Bondar.

Former Vice-Principal (Planning and Resources) François Tavenas was appointed the founding recteur of the Université du Luxembourg. The university is a first for the tiny European monarchy of 400,000. Tavenas reports that he is very excited by the opportunity to effectively create a university from scratch, and will likely draw on his eight years of experience from McGill, as well as his years as rector of Université Laval.

Ann Beer, associate professor of integrated studies in the Faculty of Education, has won the John Gaw Award. The award, which was presented at a ceremony at the Palais des Congrès in November, is given out annually by the Association of Teachers of English in Quebec.
