Professor emeritus F. Clarke Fraser, from the Departments of Human Genetics and Pediatrics, received the American Society of Human Genetics Award for Excellence in Education at the organization's meetings in Philadelphia yesterday. Fraser has been a professor at McGill since 1952.

Dr. Michel Azouz from the Department of Diagnostic Radiology was asked to organize the 2001 meeting of the International Skeletal Society in Quebec City. He will also chair the Quebec meeting's refresher course and is a member of the editorial board of the society's publication, Skeletal Radiology.

Professor George Demopoulos from the Department of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering is the 2000 winner of the Sherritt Hydrometallurgy Award for his significant contributions to the advancement of hydrometallurgy through research and education. This award was presented to him last month at the International Symposium on the Process Metallurgy of Uranium Conference at the 30th Annual Hydrometallurgy Meeting of the CIM.
