Forces Avenir awards McGill students

Forces Avenir, a Quebec organization that promotes student commitment, has given top awards to two McGill students and a McGill project at their 2005 gala September 29 . David Matthews (undergraduate, music and biology) and Amelia C. Clarke (graduate, mangement) won in the Personality category, and the students behind Yalla Journal, a new magazine that bridges the Arab and Jewish community, won in the Mutual Aid, Peace, and Justice category. They are Dalia Rotstein, Rachel Davidson, Dina Awad, Adam Allouba, Srouji Rasha, Meena Refie and Samer George Jarjouhi.

Other McGill finalists included Maryse Bourgault (see profile on p. 3); nursing students Karine Bourgeois, Véronique Laliberté, Kareen Bontemps and Sidonie Mack for producing a cultural nutrition booklet; and Cynthia Xin-Ya Qian, Ruth Ainsworth, Zhaoyuan Susan Jia and David Summerchays who make up Fantasia McGill, a performance group.

Friday, October 7, is Sport and Physical Activity Day. To celebrate, the Department of Athletics is offering McGill students and staff free entrance to the following:

  • Sports Centre and Fitness Centre: all day
  • Yoga: 17h30-18h25, Aerobics Room
  • Spin: 17h00-17h55, Spin Room (limit of 22 people)
