News from the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research

During March 1998, Science and Technology Counselors from six Canadian embassies / delegations visited Montreal to provide information on opportunities for collaboration in research and technology transfer with other G-7 countries. The counselors are a key element of Canada's information network abroad and are based in London, Bonn, Paris, Tokyo, Washington and Brussels (European Union). Copies of their reports on R&D developments in these countries are available from the Office of International Research (including a special report on biotechnology developments in Germany). OIR is concerned with federal plans to reduce Canada's S&T counselors abroad from six to three in the coming year.
