Open House revamped!

Open House was a big success January 29. The event drew hundreds of pre-university students eager to check out what McGill has to offer.

The pit is a frenzy! The McGill Investment Club hosted the inaugural McGill Trading Simulation in the William Shatner Ballroom on February 4. Over 200 students from a dozen Canadian and U.S. schools made up 49 teams of traders who bartered stocks of ten fictitious companies, while runners and data imputers processing the trades. First place went to Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières, due to their high-risk strategy of concentrating their assets in a few positions, which they levered with the use of options.

Justice John Gomery was invited by the McGill Institute for the Study of Canada to deliver the 2006 James R. Mallory Lecture in Canadian Studies at the Faculty Club, February 8. Gomery spoke of The Pros and Cons of Commissions of Inquiry. After the talk he stayed a while, chatting with political science master's students Janine Marshall and David Manchester.
